My wake up call
came on January 15, 2001 at 7:15 AM. A loud, raucous siren went off as I lay
on a cold, sterile table having my heart arteries cleared with the
technological equivalent of a pipe cleaner. Damn, I felt dumb! As someone
who spent the last thirty years helping others push past their denial, I was
forced to confront my own. Hopefully, you can wake up before you get the
call. We can help you to do that.
Bill Penzer, Ph.D.
Bill began his
career as an Industrial Psychologist for IBM in 1966 during which time he
attended post graduate clinical training. He came to Fort Lauderdale in 1972
and became the Assistant Director of the Institute for Human Development at
Nova University. In 1975 he opened a private practice in Sunrise and in 1976
founded and directed the Center for Counseling Services for almost twenty
years. At its peak that private center employed about ninety therapists in
six locations. When managed health care took hold, Bill realized it was time
to return to private practice. He continues that in Plantation and Boca
Raton. He has recently founded The Center for SELF-Control which is an
outgrowth of his new book, Completing Adulthood: Taking Control of Your
Life Once and For All and Forever.
Bill has
previously published two books entitled, Getting Back Up from an
Emotional Down, You Have Choices: Overcoming Anxiety, Panic and Phobia,
(co written with Bonnie Goodman M.S.).
Bill experienced a
serious case of anxiety, panic and agoraphobia in the early Seventies. This
was well before these were commonly known conditions and well before
medications had been developed to assist people dealing with those problems.
He struggled through a five-year psychoanalysis, eventually receiving
complete relief and resolution without medication. He has been free of
anxiety and panic for more than twenty years. For many years he facilitated
a panic and anxiety support group. He has helped thousands of people free
themselves of panic and anxiety.
Bill is now
committed to helping people overcome their addictive habits that take them
into unhealthy territories. His personal wakeup call occurred in January
2001 when he had to undergo angioplasty. He came to realize that his habits
were Glop based and hurtful. He was forced to push past his own denial so
that he could take control of himself. Since that time he has eaten healthy
and exercised regularly. He feels better than ever and in control of
himself.
Bill wants to help
other people not have to wait for the wake up call. He has devised programs
that will help people become the CEO of their SELF and consistently avoid
the temptations that take them into unhealthy and undesirable territories.
He helps people to feel proud, confident and esteemed and limit their
exposure to shame and blame.
